Turkey International Student Admission Exam (TR-YÖS), which has been held by ÖSYM in Turkey and internationally since 2023, will be held every two years, in May and October, starting from 2024, as previously announced.

All state universities will accept TR-YÖS exam results for 2023-2024 academic year placements.

Starting from the 2024-2025 academic year, only TR-YÖS Exam scores, secondary school grade point averages determined by the university senate, countries' own national exams and international exam results will be taken into account in the admission of international students to public higher education institutions.

Accordingly, it has been decided to cancel the issues regarding their own exams and the exams held by universities (YÖS).


Who can apply to YÖS?

1- Foreign nationals who want to study in Turkey, 

2- Turkish nationals who have studied in foreign countries throughout their high school education and those who have dual nationality, one of which is Turkish, can take this exam.


Who cannot apply to YÖS?

1- Those who are citizens of the Republic of Turkey,

 2- Those who are citizens of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, 

3- Those who have dual citizenship, one of whom is a Turkish or TRNC national, 4- Those who have received a diploma, those who are studying, those who were dismissed from universities in Turkey due to disciplinary offenses, 

5- Those who were dismissed from universities in Turkey due to disciplinary offenses in the past years. Those who took the YÖS exam, those who committed fraud, 

6- T.R. Those who have benefited from scholarships or higher education opportunities given to foreign governments by their government.


What do I need to do to study at Turkish universities?

Applicants can apply to universities with international exam results other than YÖS. Exams identified as the equivalent of YÖS by universities will be among the admission requirements.


Where can I obtain the Application Document?

Application documents for the Foreign National Student Exam (YÖS) can be obtained in writing or in person from the "Student Selection and Placement Center, ÖSYM-SHB, 06538, Ankara, TURKEY" address.


How much do we need to pay?

As the application and exam fee, 50 USD must be deposited into the account "ÖSYM-YÖS-6028011-5008, T.C. Ziraat Bankası, Güvenevler Branch, Ankara." The equivalent amount in foreign currency accepted by the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey can also be deposited.


Where should I submit my Application Documents?

The original of the Application Document, along with the document proving the payment of the application and exam fee, must be sent to ÖSYM by the date specified in the Guide or delivered to ÖSYM in person. Those who fail to submit their documents by this date will not be considered to have applied for the exam. Incomplete or untimely documents will not be processed.


When and where will the exam take place?

The Foreign National Student Exam will be held on April 15, 2007. The exam will be administered in Ankara and the overseas centers specified in the Guide.


How many people are taking the exam?

Approximately 5,000 candidates participate in the Foreign National Student Exam each year.


What kind of questions are asked in the exam?

The exam includes a Basic Learning Skills Test and a Turkish Language Test.


How can I find out my exam results?

Exam results are sent to the addresses of the candidates.


Why did I fail the exam; what can I do to appeal the results?

Announced exam results are final. If there is a perceived error, a petition can be submitted to ÖSYM.


Can I change the exam center?

Requests for changes in the exam center and location are not accepted.


I want to contest my score. What can I do to have my answers re-evaluated?

Requests for review, made in accordance with the explanations in the Guide, can be fulfilled with a timely petition.


The quotas allocated to foreign students in the 2023-2024 academic year were announced by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK).
